"Texas native Ace Ford comes through with a great collection of songs in his latest release, Alkali.
Stories of lost love, trains, and the rodeo pour out from Ace with heartfelt conviction and
honesty. There is an overwhelming urge to be by the fire on a trail ride living the picture that he paints so poetically. The soft, sweet sound of Ace Ford is matched only by the wonderful fiddle playing of Aubrey Haney and Jonathan Yudkin. I recommend buying Alkali if you enjoy great songwriting and country/folk music. Hopefully the next release from Ace Ford won't be so long in the making."

"The area of Country, these days, is so immense, but Alkali seem to be able to draw
on all styles, within the genre without denigrating the overall outcome. The musical work and style does not lose that live feeling by being overproduced. A great album."

"The song writing on Alkali shows a wordsmith, crafting his narration with an
intensity that compels the listener to hit the play button with no thought of a fast-forward.
The songs read like a Larry McMurtry novel, lengthy, full of character, plots and scenes, all
dragging you willingly to the end. Alkali is a return to country roots."

Larry Mitchell has a long musical history to tell us: this story started in Selma,
Alabama and grew up with the revolutionary "cosmic country music" by Gram Parsons...a fine
and passionate debut release, The Bridge that instantly reveals his different musical roots.
Bringing together superior songwriting, old time ballads with a classic country-rock and
bluesy feeling and some deepest moments, this record shows a true dignity, maybe far from
contemporary alternative-country scene, and yet perfectly lined up with the "Americana"
concept. Produced professionally by David Raines, The Bridge is an eclectic effort with an
undeniable seventies’ touch in all its twelve tracks...this man isn’t simply an "imitator".
...this is an excellent effort, recommended to all of you that love first-rate songwriting.

This debut release is an eclectic collection that spans the breadth of Larry's songwriting.
From the introspective "Thin Line" to the haunting title cut "The Bridge", Larry takes us on
a journey through feelings and emotions that we all experience. In the honky tonker "Here In
The Neon", you'll find yourself brokenhearted in a West Texas barroom. "On Hollister Street"
transports you back to the Southern California counterculture life style of the late sixties.
Producer Davis Raines has succeeded in showcasing Larry's vocals by wrapping them in
arrangements suitable to the style of each song. A great effort, a great first record!

Davis Raines has produced this album of mainstream country songs. This is a
very well crafted record and the quality of the band (in particular, the Lloyd Maines-esque
pedal steel of Michael Daly) elevates this above most of the genre. Larry’s voice seems to be
more at home on the ballads, of which "It’s Not Love" and "Easy Street" are extremely pleasing.
His natural affection for his hometown is depicted in "Selma" and "Here In The Neon" shows
that he can rock too...if the CMT channel was still available on satellite TV, then Larry Mitchell
would more than likely be heavily featured on the play-list.
